Profile

Roger is an ordained Unitarian Minister and is currently the minister with Canoe of Souls Unitarian Church in Auckland. Unitarianism is an open religion/philosophy that accepts there is wisdom, light and truth in all religions and philosophies of life. The Unitarian faith has no set dogmas or creeds but is based on seven principles:

The Seven Principles:

  1. The inherent worth and dignity of every person.
  2. Justice, equity and compassion in human relations.
  3. Acceptance of one another and encouragement to spiritual growth in our congregations.
  4. A free and responsible search for truth and meaning.
  5. The right of conscience and the use of the democratic process within our congregations and in society at large.
  6. The goal of world community with peace, liberty, and justice for all.
  7. Respect for the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part.

Roger is an open and caring celebrant. The people with whom he works are paramount. An act of celebration belongs to those celebrating. The uniqueness of each person and situation must be honoured. Roger sees the task of Celebrant as one of facilitation, of bringing together, and of holding. The Celebrant does not lay down rules but helps, listens, and empowers.
